ALABAMA APPOINTMENT BACKDATING
Effective May 1, 2018, Alabama will no longer allow backdating on effective dates on Appointments and Terminations. The effective date of the
Appointment and Terminations will be the date the transaction is processed. Any effective date entered will not be honored. Please contact NIPR

Any producer or title insurance agent, including a business entity producer or title
insurance agent, as of July 1, 2010 per
Bulletin 2010-06, acting on behalf of an insurer
must be appointed by the insurer. Any insurer accepting business directly from a
person not licensed for that line of authority and not appointed by the insurer
is liable to a fine of up to three times the premium received from the person.
Each insurer or title insurer appointing a producer or title insurance agent, including
a business entity producer or title insurance agent, as of July 1, 2010 per
Bulletin 2010-06, in this state shall file a
notice of the appointment with the DOI within 15 days of the date the agency contract
is executed or the first insurance application is submitted, whichever occurs first.
The Insurer must submit a Notice of Producer Appointment through the National Insurance
Producer Registry (NIPR).

The initial appointment fee is $40.00 for Producers/Service Representatives/Business Entities and $30.00 for Title Agents. NIPR may charge additional transaction fees.
ALL fees are non-refundable.
Please note the entire license and appointment fee will be paid during the appointment
process.
Temporary Producer Appointments: The Temporary license is only valid if the
temporary producer is sponsored and appointed by an underwriting company. Once applicant
is issued a license number, the company will have 14 days to appoint them. No business
can be written until appointment is added. If the applicant is not appointed within
the 15 days, the license will be cancelled. Producers working with a temporary license
can only write for one company and/or their subsidiaries until a permanent license
is issued.
Companies who do not want to do the programming themselves can utilize one of the
NIPR Authorized Business Partners to handle the programming.

Any unwanted appointments can be terminated
using the Interactive Appointments and Terminations application. If you do not have
a PDB login for your company please contact the NIPR Marketing Department at 816-783-8467
or marketing@nipr.com.
If the submitted termination reason is “Request Regulatory Review” or “Company Indebtedness“,
you must file within ten days a statement of the facts relative to the termination
and the cause thereof, together with any documentation.
All fees are non-refundable.
If you cancel an appointment by mistake, you will be required to pay a $40.00 appointment
fee to have the licensee reappointed.
Appointments and Cancellations will be reflected on this website in 2 to 3 business
days.
Appointment renewal occurs effective January 1 each year. All insurance producers,
service representatives, business entity producers, and title insurance agents appointed
with an insurer on December 31 each year will be renewed for the next year. Insurers
may view/print their appointment renewal invoice through the National Insurance
Producer Registry (NIPR) on or after January 12th of each year.
The renewal appointment fee for each producer/agent is as follows:
- Insurance Producers (individual and business entities) - $25
- Service Representatives - $40
- Title Insurance Agents (individual and business entities) - $10
