Change of Address Policy and Procedure

According to Section 27-7-17(B), Code of Alabama 1975:

"Licensees shall inform the commissioner by any means acceptable to the commissioner of a change in legal name or address within 30 days of the change. Failure to timely inform the commissioner of a change in legal name or address shall result in a penalty of fifty dollars ($50)."

This applies to producers, business entity producers and service representatives according to Section 27-7-17(a).

NOTE: You cannot change your address during the renewal process.

According to Section 27-9A-7(h), Code of Alabama 1975:

"The independent adjuster shall inform the commissioner of a change in legal name or address within 30 days of the change in a manner prescribed by the commissioner. Failure to timely inform the commissioner of a change in legal name or address shall result in a penalty of fifty dollars ($50). If the penalty is not paid within 30 days after notice of the penalty assessment, the license shall be suspended until the penalty is paid."

"Contact Change Request (CCR) provides a convenient method for producers, service representatives, and adjusters to accurately communicate a vital piece of information to regulators. It also, at no cost and in one place, allows producers to view all their current address records for every state, making it easier for them to monitor and maintain their records."

THIS PROCESS IS MANDATORY FOR ALL PRODUCERS AND SERVICE REPRESENTATIVES.

Currently half of all jurisdictions participate in CCR. Producers and authorized users can view the complete list of participating states and submit individual producer address changes through the NIPR web site. Through the CCR you will have the ability to change resident and business addresses, mailing addresses, personal and business phone numbers, personal and business e-mail addresses and business fax numbers. You can access CCR by going to www.nipr.com and on left hand side of page click on Contact Change Request.

However, adjusters who do not have an active resident license and business entity producers must submit the paper Address Change Form.

Also - Individual and Business Entity Adjusters as required by law within 30 days now have the ability to update their e-mail addresses online for Alabama through either SBS Online tools or by NIPR's CCR. You can access SBS by going to our website at www.aldoi.gov and under Producers/Agents either click on Print Your License or View Your CE Info and that takes you straight to SBS and it will be under Email Maintenance or go to NIPR web site.
