Two children, age two, were killed Tuesday night October 26th, when fire destroyed their home at 323 East Roosevelt Avenue in Foley.

The fire was reported to the Foley Fire Department at 9:40 PM. Responding firemen were unable to save the children who were twin brother and sister. The mother of the children, Lorraine Williams, was at home at the time of the fire and was injured while attempting to rescue the children.

The home was equipped with a smoke alarm, however, the battery had been removed sometime in the past three years making the alarm inoperable.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Foley Police Department and the State Fire Marshals Office.
