Christopher Hugh Wood, age 31 of 511 Berger Drive in Fultondale died Sunday around 1:52 AM during a fire at his mobile home.
An investigation by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and the State Fire Marshals Office revealed the fire originated at a recliner in the living room where the victim was found. The fire appears to be accidental resulting from a misuse of smoking materials.
An autopsy is scheduled by the Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office. Battery powered smoke detectors were reportedly installed in the home at the time of the fire.
