One elderly Peterman resident was killed and one escaped injury during a fire at their home Monday afternoon.
Georgia Andrews Preyear, age 90, died Monday at Route 1, Box 181; Peterman around 2:52 PM. Ms. Preyear was confined to a wheelchair and was found in the living room where the fire is believed to have started. No smoke detectors were in the house at the time of the fire.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation by local authorities and the State Fire Marshals Office.
