Ted Theodore White, age 82, and his wife Eron Hettie White, age 84, died this morning during a fire at their home. The fire, at 1560 County Road 1036, Cullman, was reported at 2:06 AM.
The fire originated in a bedroom/den where a wood-burning heater was located. Mr. White was found in the living room of the home while Mrs. White was found in a second bedroom.
Although smoke alarms were present in the home according to family members, the couple was unable to escape.
Investigators from the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office and the State Fire Marshals Office traced the origin of the fire to the heater, where a faulty chimney is believed to be responsible for the fatal fire.
