As investigators continued their investigation into dozens of fires in Prichard, a second juvenile has been taken into custody.
Thursday investigators signed a juvenile petition for Arson Second Degree against an 8 year old Prichard youth. The charge was brought following the investigation of a fire at a vacant duplex dwelling on Short Hale Street around 3:00 PM Monday July 9th. A second juvenile petition was served on the same youth for Assault Third Degree in an incident unrelated to the fire.
Investigators from the Prichard Fire and Police Departments, as well as the State Fire Marshals Office, continue to investigate fires involving two commercial structures and approximately four dozen residences, mostly vacant.
Anyone with information relating to these or other fires are encouraged to call the Alabama Arson Prevention Task Force ARSON HOTLINE 1-800-654-0775. Rewards are offered for information leading to the arrest and indictment of those responsible for these crimes.
