Investigators have identified the cause of the fire in Frisco City and have determined the fire to be an act of arson.
Investigators with the Alabama State Fire Marshals Office spent Wednesday evening and all day Thursday conducting interviews and examining the scene. Based on information developed and the scene examination, Deputy State Fire Marshals working with an accelerant detection canine, located the origin of the fire. The fire originated in Peoples Drug Store and spread to Barfield's Jewelry.
Investigators continue work in cooperation with the Frisco City Police and Fire Departments and the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.
