A fatal fire in Daphne Saturday night has been ruled accidental. The fire resulted in the loss of two lives.

Cleve Coleman, age 77, and Jessie Ruth Lewis, age 85, died around 11:45 PM when fire destroyed the one story wood frame home owned by Mr. Coleman. The home was located at 2820 Tolbert Lane in Daphne.

Fire departments from Daphne, Loxley and Spanish Fort responded to the fire. No smoke detector/alarms were located in the home at the time of the fire.

An investigation by the Daphne Fire Department and the Alabama State Fire Marshals Office revealed the fire originated when combustibles were placed too close to an electric heater. Investigators are awaiting the results of autopsies being performed by the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences.
