Michael Ray Isbell, age 45, died Friday January 10th during a 9:16 PM fire at his home at 21 Merry Mann Drive in Riverside. The fire occurred in a single wide mobile home. No smoke detectors were present in the home at the time of the fire.
The investigation conducted by the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office and Alabama State Fire Marshals Office revealed the fire occurred due to an improperly installed wood burning heater and the burning of plastics in the heater.
An autopsy by the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences confirmed Mr. Isbell died from smoke inhalation.
