One person was killed Sunday morning when fire destroyed a one story wood frame dwelling which was reported to be vacant.  The identity of the victim has not been determined.

Firefighters with the Selma Fire Department observed a glow in the sky while they were working a wreck scene and discovered the fire around 4:26 AM after completing the wreck call.  The home was located at 2501 Old Montgomery Highway

Around 4:02 PM Selma firefighters were asked to respond back to the scene as a caller believed there might be someone in the burned home.  Firefighters discovered the remains of the victim after arriving back at the scene.

The fire is currently under investigation by the Selma Police and Fire Departments, the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences and the Alabama State Fire Marshals Office.

An autopsy was scheduled to determine the cause of death and to identify the victim.
