Investigators with the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, Skyline Police and Fire Departments, the Jackson County Coroner's Office, Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences and the Alabama State Fire Marshals Office are currently investigating a fire and death that occurred earlier today.
The fire involved a doublewide mobile home located at 19916 Highway 79 in Skyline. At this time the victim is believed to be Edward J. Smart, age 56. The fire was reported at 10:32 AM.
Investigators are awaiting a confirmation of the victim's identify and the specific cause of death.
