One 11-year-old juvenile has been charged following the investigation of a fire by the Lanett Police and Fire Departments and the Alabama State Fire Marshals Office.
A juvenile petition was signed charging the child after a vacant house at 201 East 11th Street in Lanett was damaged by fire June 21st. The fire was reported at 11:44 PM. Although the fire was reported late at night, the fire had been set earlier that day. The child attempted to extinguish the fire after setting it, but realized it was still smoldering when they left the scene.
