A father and son died Wednesday morning during a fire at their home in Chilton County.  Charles Edward Morrow, age 28, and his 3 year old son, Charles Edward Morrow III, were found in the burned home by Maplesville firefighters.

The fire in the one story wood frame home located at 25 County Road 802 in Maplesville was reported at 7:57 A.M. December 10th, however, responding firefighters were unable to find the father for almost an hour after arrival on the scene.

Investigators with the Maplesville Fire Department, Chilton County Sheriff’s Office and the Alabama State Fire Marshals Office say it appears the father was attempting to get him and his son out of the burning house before they collapsed.

Autopsies are scheduled by the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences to determine the specific cause of death.  The cause of the fire remains under investigation.  Investigators say there were no smoke detectors in the home when the fire occurred.
