Three Lamar County Residents Died in Fire

One adult and two children died this morning when fire destroyed their home in Lamar County.

Thirty-two-year-old Pam Woods, seven-year-old Skylar Woods and two-year-old Raven Woods were killed in a fire at their residence at 777 Tree Farm Road; Sulligent. The fire was reported to the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office at 12:50 AM, however, the home was collapsing when the Sulligent Volunteer Fire Department arrived on the scene.

The two-story wood frame residence was destroyed by the fire. All three victims were found in the first floor master bedroom where they all reportedly slept. Smoke alarms, powered by the building electrical service, were reportedly installed in the home.

At the present time the fire and deaths are under investigation by the Lamar County Sheriff’ Office, the State Fire Marshals Office and the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences. The fire is believed to have originated in the first floor living room, however, the specific cause of the fire is still under investigation.
