An early morning fire took the life of a Wilcox County teenager when fire swept through a singlewide mobile home.

Sixteen year old Monica Houston died this morning when fire destroyed a mobile home on Charlie Brown Road in Camden. The home located at Route 2, Box 210-A, Camden, was heavily damaged by the fire, which was reported to the Camden Volunteer Fire Department at 6:12 AM.

Three other occupants of the home were injured. Although a nineteen-month-old child was transferred to Children's Hospital in Birmingham, none of the injured are believed to be life threatening.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by local authorities and the State Fire Marshals Office. The Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences will be conducting an autopsy to establish the specific cause of death, while investigators continue their efforts to identify not only the cause of the fire, but whether a smoke alarm was present in the home when the fire occurred.
