On August 10 at approximately 6:15 p.m., the Geneva and Bellwood Volunteer Fire Departments responded to a house fire at 5937 North state Highway 86 in the Geneva County Community of Chancellor.  Occupants of the home were able to escape unharmed, but the house and family dog were lost in the blaze.  An investigation by the Alabama State Fire Marshal's Office, the Geneva County Sherriff's Office and the Alabama Bureau of Investigation determined the fire to be the result of arson.  Evidence recovered at the scene subsequently led to yesterday's (8/30) arrest of 20 year old Michael Millirons of Geneva County.  Millirons was charged with Arson First Degree and Cruelty to Animals and has been placed in the Geneva County Jail with a bail of $50,000 for the Arson and $2,000 for the Cruelty charge.
