A 63 Year old Cherokee county man was arrested September 16, 2009 and charged with Solicitation to Commit Arson, Second Degree and Conspiracy to Commit Arson Second Degree; both Class C felonies. Recently, the Cherokee County Sheriff's Department received a tip that an area businessman was conspiring to have a local convenience store burned.  A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of Jeff Thomas Jordan, 63 of Jordan Drive in Centre.  In addition to Jordan's arrest, $3000 in cash and a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck were also siezed and Jordan was placed in the Cherokee County Jail.  He was arrested without incident.  State Fire Marshal Ed Paulk reminds the public to report suspected arson fires to the Alabama Arson Hotline at 1-800-654-0775.
